“If you can’t explain it to a six year old, you don’t understand it yourself.” Albert Einstein
Should a six year old ask what is iAmSapien, my reply might look something like this.
You asked, what is iAmSapien?
“Yes”, the child replies.
It is like this. When you and your friends want to have fun, you get together at your house, is that right?
“Yes, and sometimes at Gina’s and sometimes at Bobby’s, or maybe we just play outside.”
I understand. And when you meet you have to decide what you want to do. Do you talk with each other to decide?
“Well, we might argue a little, but we decide, and go have fun.”
When you play, you share your toys?
“I share my soccer ball and goals, Gina shares her play house, and Bobby lets us play his video games.”
Playing house, I guess everyone shares their imagination, playing the part they do best. Is that true?
“We like playing house. We get to act like adults, fixing and cooking and doing the big things.”
I suppose you wish the big things all got done very well, and without a lot of yelling. Is that how you play house?
“Sometimes its just fun. Sometimes Bobby is bossy and won’t let us say or do what we want.”
Well, iAmSapien is a lot like playing house but on the computer. Everyone comes to have fun, and not yell or be bossy. We get to do the big things. We freely share our ideas. We imagine the best things. This makes playing together great. Do you understand now what is iAmSapien?
“It’s like when me and my friends are happy, and we play all day, and we do everything together. It just means you are nice.”
If it weren’t for the challenges of life, what would be the fun? But life is terribly challenging. So, the thing is to make the challenge fun.
Hold your friends close. Hold your enemies closer. Might this wisdom apply to the challenges of life? What if we bring the enemy close so to win them over to our side. We might turn what was painful into fun.
Some of the challenges of life are: Finding happiness to learn after schooling has made learning unhappy. Finding joy in taking on risk after parents have worked so hard to remove risk. Being comfortable with the unknown after ego has become based in the pretense of knowing. Finding delight in emotions after culture taught us to dissociate feelings from our words. Feeling secure in one’s inherent ability to be wise though the milieu demands oppression.
Beside all these challenges, should we even mention that people must deal with life and death, the spiritual and the earthly, the moral and the unjust, order verses chaos, instinct verses reason, and a need for peace and beauty while strength seems empowered by violence.
These are life’s challenges. To turn them to our side, we must find joy in holding them close until they become our cause of joy. Embrace education. Smile at parents. Laugh at emotions. Talk about death. Hold strong your peace and beauty. Above all, sing about humility. It is the beginning of wisdom.
Think about it. How many challenges are dealt with effectively through unwise actions? If people want happiness, and surely they do, would not our culture place a high value on wisdom? Wouldn’t it be normal for people to aspire to wisdom, talk about wisdom, and build structures in behalf of wisdom? Wouldn’t people seek wise media at least as much as they seek distraction?
There is a massive challenge in today’s society. All the challenges listed above have become moot points because they have been swamped by the greater challenge, hopelessness. If hope is an inkling that one can manifest happiness through wisdom, then hopelessness is a belief that one’s mental abilities will bring frustration and pain. This is the challenge now engaging our society. Abstaining from wisdom, people find good reason to seek happiness in addictions. It is a mistaken belief that with less thought there will be less pain.
How is that working? Does unwise action lead to happiness? Obviously not, but there is a great delusion spreading across our society that believes less wisdom is more happiness. So, if this is today’s challenge, how do we hold it close? Where is the fun in dealing with this irony?
The answer is in the phrase from The Godfather Part II, “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer”. It was more than a lesson from dad. Somehow, dad would have demonstrated the power in engaging others positively, then to use closeness to leverage change. This was dad role modeling how to achieve happiness. We need more role models demonstrating the power of engaging life. We need people to demonstrate the relationship between wisdom and happiness. This we might do in many ways. Here, we focus on one in particular.
The website, iAmSapien, is here to challenge you to role model your power. Model positive and happy engagement. The ways to role model your happiness include: Vote for what is the best wisdom and link with these. Comment because you enjoy adding to the wisdom. Create an article from your greatest joy. Link with others holding close your friends and more so those you debate. Create groups that manifest your wisdom as an expression of happiness in the world. We are here to demonstrate the relationship between happiness and wisdom. Together we are a powerful role model for the world.
Less important is where something happened, and more important is why something happened. Why did someone named, Robert take action that others might be empowered to change the world? The answer to this may indicate if I am any sort of role model for others to follow.
I grew up very meek and introverted. I count this as not a quality of role modeling. I had no sense of inner resourcefulness or empowerment. The pain of living each day in uncertainty brought me, time and again, to a place of questioning why I am here and whether I have to stay here. Life was vaguely fun at times, but mostly a scary place run by god-like adults who controlled every minutia. I believed surely they must know what is good for me and where the world is going.
As a teen I had inklings that the adults didn’t really know what they were doing. Surely though, there is a source of wisdom on planet earth. Surely, somewhere in the great religions they have answered the questions, why are we here, where are we going, and how are we to be fulfilled. So then, Robert, with no good role models of his own, decided to embark on a journey of self-education, and guided by this one assumption, that an answer must be out there.
Ten years of religious fervor brought me again to a familiar place. The adults really don’t know what is going on. Everyone seems stuck in their small world with little courage or ambition to look at the big universe. Still did I take on studies of health, physics, spiritualism, behaviorism, education, communication, child development and permaculture. And still I arrived at the conclusion that most people really don’t know what they are talking about, or don’t know how this connects with that to make a change in the world. Exceptions to this rule are the last three on my list: communication, child development and permaculture. Marshall Rosenberg connected feelings with communication with changes in the environment. Joseph Chilton Pearce connected many environmental factors with the inner life of a child and with the external life of humanity. Michael Pilarsky “Skeeter” is my role model, who in his special way, intellectually sees the intricate workings of humans in accord with nature, and then integrated this awareness with the community environment to create an education process, and ultimately, an effective process to change the planet. To save the planet.
All this reading and study and classes engaged my intellect and my interest. However, spirituality was not left behind. Neale Donald Walsch wrote the books, “Conversations with God”. Neale connected this life with the bigger, universal picture. Life is a journey from human confusion, pain and desires, to a place of realizing purpose, to a place of activating the power within us. The possibility of a solid moral and spiritual code pushed me onward even when my old feelings of meekness and weakness crept in to swallow up any belief in myself or tomorrow. Email messages from Neale always seems to hit the mark, pushing me. I took a leap and believed the impossible true. I might actually do something meaningful.
What to do with my life? At 56 years of age I was asking what am I going to do with my life. I wanted something that might have meaning to me and to others. Girlfriends, church, and learning had not resolved the issue of finding wisdom and meaning. So what is it I could be part of that would bring a sense of fulfillment? It would have to be something that grew knowledge not from ego, but from a place of humility and understanding. Knowledge also needed a place of connection.
Mind you, I could not verbalize my need at the time. Instead, my subconscious brain went to work piecing together my experiences from the works of Neale, Marshall, Joseph and Michael. My subconscious pulled together many bits of wisdom, together with determination, to do an unknown something, and very contrary to the personality of Robert. At times I remembered the lesson from Paul Harvey’s “The Rest of The Story”, where entrepreneurs, though badly beaten, found in themselves the wherewithal to rise again, to try again, to succeed.
Most of what came next was logical thinking. There is a need to reach many people, and globally, and cheaply. Therefore, fulfilling this need would happen using the web (I knew almost nothing about the web.) The site would ask people to find their inner resourcefulness rather than me trying to tell people anything (I had no idea how to direct people to their own wisdom). The information and decisions of the global community would have to be organized in a practical and easy manner (Again, I had no idea how this organization would turn out). However, I realized that if many people were voting on ideas, materials, and actions, then their votes could organize the best on top (A year later I discovered crowdsourcing and crowdfunding). The logical thing to do next was to find programmers who could put this together and get it on the web. Again, I had no idea where to turn.
My Naturopathic Physician recommended Alex Altotsky to do the programming. This was after I had failed with some goofballs from the local college. Very nervously, I met with Alex in Portland, OR. Signed papers. And Robert’s project, a place he might find meaning and fulfillment, was underway. Still, poor Robert had no idea what he was in for. Maybe this was for the best because, had I known, I might never have taken the leap. What was imagined to be several months work took over two years just to get the basics in place. What was imagined to be a three-person job should have been maybe thirty people on the project. We got by with about six.
Why so complex? The concept for the project was vague. The implementation of the logic was organic. Thank goodness for Sarah and Marina to instilled some sanity into the flow from me to Alex. Even with their help the complexity was tormenting. Well over a hundred thousand lines of code written from over two thousand stories describing the functions of the site. Each story on Atlassian Jira could include a description, an assignment to the next person, images, comments, links and values (a complexity not unlike our own website). An additional layer of complexity was necessary to make the site appear simple and user friendly. Perfect logic was needed in my mind, and perfectly conveyed to the team. Where this did not occur, the web page failed, and the story came back to me for revision. This added expense and time was frustrating for the whole team. In mid stream, the web technologies were being updated by their creators. Our site followed suit, updating the programming. The team learned new skills.
I learned new skills. Or were my thought skills developed in me because I spent so much time digesting Neale’s books, the Bible, and A Course in Miracles. Behaviorism and study of child development had turned my ideas of humanity upside down. Perhaps the development of a complex web platform was simply the next step in my own mental evolution.
Is any of this a role model for other’s evolution? I could only guess. I’m guessing many others would benefit from book study, classes, and counseling such as I went through (Don’t I wish my parents had done so!). Might anyone benefit knowing that inside me, unseen, was a lengthy process of tormented decisions? Yes, I took the time to take care of myself. I would take the time to study. I would make the effort to put my learning into action and into new thinking. But know this, every decision was a result of choosing courage and risk over comfort and safety. This one decision, unseen, is what I regard as my attribute as a role model. Being intelligent, skilled or gifted, I can’t say I had these to give to others. At 56 years of age I used courage to pull together the little that I had. Then I spent my savings believing in the possibility that others would want to engage their own courage to bring their own dream into action.
Marshall Rosenberg* was correct. I heard him say on several occasions, “People want meaning.” People may ask, “What is the great meaning of life?” However, for humans, we are limited to the bit of meaning we can create in our minds and from our experience. Rarely do people claim to experience true reality. Even then, to my estimate, they stretch their minds to make meaning of what they felt or saw or knew. We people are stuck in this reality as it is today. So, it is not unreasonable to begin with what we have been given.
People have been given a desire to find meaning. To discover, create and share meaning, that is our job. Pause for a moment to consider what is meaningful in your life.
Now consider how you enjoy sharing what is meaningful to you.
That people want meaning is not really the question here. The right question is, how do we perform our job well to create and share meaning?
From foundations. That is how anything is done well. Because we live in the phenomena called time, all that exist is seen to occur through a process, from smaller to bigger, from simple to complex. Meaning, though an abstraction of mind, is also subject to this rule. What are the foundations of meaning which we then take on as a process through time?
Sounds like a big question. So, let’s make it simple. Entropy is the dissipation of energy. Along with energy loss would be the dissipation of the process that constructs complexity. But while there are still bursts of energy in localized areas, so will there be the building of molecules, the building of stars and planets, and possibly the outcome we call consciousness. Then will consciousness use abstraction to seek its own order. We abstract our own meaning by seeking additional process and order. This universal process that moves energy away from chaos to order, to consciousness, to meaning, is the given order of things. So this process is the foundation for meaning. The universal process is our foundation for creating meaning.
We create meaning and order and then we are happy. For consciousness, happiness is the motive for finding complexity and finding meaning. Obviously, if people were not motivated to create order and create meaning, then consciousness would have the task of disorder, loss of energy, and death. Consciousness would not exist. By default, our job is to be happy creating meaning.
What a grand opportunity to exist, creating meaning, in a seemingly infinite universe. Our foundation is the universe itself. With that support behind us, our work is to refine the movement of energy, as this energy moves the clockwork of the universe through time. We get to be a part of this movement. We get to say what it all means. Wow!
The creation of meaning is a process. It is difficult. So many options. How do we choose? There are several orders to this choosing. On the first order, if you choose wrong, you die. Following instincts to survive is a priority. In the second order, people choose enculturation. The culture we are born into impregnates our mind with the working social order. Maybe we will try to make the social order work a little better, or maybe just help the order continue working for a few more days if that is all the social order has in mind. The next order of choice finds happiness in putting together a picture of meaning larger than the cultural norm. These people might see a long term destiny or maybe a different order of being. Often culture will tell these people they have got it all wrong. So the alternative order will have to muster a counter force until the new order becomes meaningful to a stagnant culture. In time, evolution is not an option. Even if the cultural norm would self-destruct first, change will indeed occur.
Evolution. Is that important? Remember, we live in the phenomena called time. Everything changes. Consciousness is here to keep up with the changes and even look ahead to the next change. Were it not so, consciousness would die because it would no longer fit in with the order of the universe. Consciousness must follow the order by refining the movement of energy into complexity. Humanity will go along for the ride or be left behind in the hands of entropy.
So, back to the deeper meaning of meaning. Actually, it is meaningful that people find meaning in doing puzzles, making mud pies, exploring fashion, teasing with riddles, writing music. These are building the neural structure to manage more complex issues. Rocket science, government, financing, and military all have the same playful meaning, to create greater complexity as a foundation for greater complexity. This happens mentally and physically and at the same time. Should one get too far ahead of the other, control would be lost. Remember, the universe works like clockwork, building from small to large, and simple to complex. Everything works together, piece to piece and layer to layer.
Mud pies, music, rocket science and war… all of these we do in behalf of happiness. Sex, being a great happiness, has a corresponding outcome of great complexity. It is called a baby. The clockwork of the universe created consciousness, and happiness, that humans would add their piece to the complexity. Contrary to this universal model is our model of education. Today’s education is an effort to divorce happiness from our appreciation of complexity. It is an attempt to dissociate complexity into painful, separated, units and then somehow dump these into the brains of youth. As if by magic we expect this disassociated dumping to prepare them to run the clockwork of society. Not gonna happen. The real education is the building of complex neural pathways with ability to manage the complexity as it evolves with time, and in behalf of happiness, so that we may all create order in line with the clockwork universe.
Given that no individual can hold the universe on their shoulders, how is it that people are to run the clockwork order? How does one person cooperate with billions to make tomorrow a meaningful day? Oddly, the answer is enculturation. It is culture that moves people as a whole. But culture must learn to evolve. This evolution is less about learning everything about everything, and more about individuals building the neurology, the inner communication, to manage complexity. With the inner complexity in place, then comes the job to communicate order to the culture. As culture receives the clockwork order, the culture will need its own working neurology to communicate and act on new information.
We have exceeded the abilities of government, financing, science, military and education to construct the next evolution of society as a clockwork. To manage the complexity that we have today demands a coordination of personal neural structure with the broader communication structure of the culture. If we succeed at coordinating communications, personal and cultural, then we will enable the individual to find their place in the march of time. We will enable happiness as the individual finds themselves part of the greater whole and the greater meaning. As we succeed at coordinating communications, then people will know the meaning of life because they will be part of meaning’s creation.
Oops, that was too much. What were these last paragraphs saying? What is the clockwork of society? What is neural structure coordinated with the broader communication structure? The point here is that everything works together. As in the human body, cancerous tissues are to die, and the working tissues are to get the nutrition. Each organ tissue is to coordinate with all other tissues for the whole to be sustained. It is all a matter of quality of communication and cooperation. Given quality, energy is used in behalf of the highest order, the greatest complexity, for consciousness and its evolution through time. Such is true of the human body, of society, and of the universe as a whole. How do we know this? Simply because that is what is happening, for us, in our mental construct of time. Human culture has the (obvious) job to form tissues and organs that cooperate to evolve culture as a thing of consciousness.
To manage this problem culture will have to evolve communication.
This essay began with the question, “How do we perform our job well?… From foundations.” This is also true for the evolution of communication. But first, we must know what communication is. Communication takes inner thinking and makes it public so to structure public thinking. This public thinking then acts as a structure, and a force, to evolve inner thinking. Such is enculturation. This being so, what might be intrinsic to this cycle of communication that it would perform the job of manifesting more complex cognition? Well, we have been doing it all along. It is a process we have been evolving. However, we have not fully evolved our consciousness of the process. Time has gotten away from us. So what is this foundation underlying communication, that has evolved complexity up until now, something that we now are to be conscious of?
Crowdsourcing. Crowdsourcing is any means used to listen to the wisdom of many individuals. When a leader is elected because their voice declares the next evolution, which the many believe will lead to happiness, this is a certain complexity of crowdsourcing. When a government employs intelligence gathering from many levels of hierarchy, and then orders millions of people to deploy solutions, thus leading to happiness, this is another level of complexity. When the global industrial complex is sustained by a financial structure, a structure which enables every individual to promote happy outcomes using their dollar, this is another level of complexity in crowdsourcing. In the next evolution of crowdsourcing, these various sources of crowdsourcing will not function individually. Remember, this is the difference between being a cancer or an organ tissue. The parts must cooperate both between themselves and with the broader existence. The great meaning, for our consciousness, at this point in time, is to come up with the next evolution in communication as a crowdsourcing method that has the ability to pull function into a unified whole.
A “unified whole” may be scary. But it should not be. Remember that the evolution of the culture depends on the few, who mentally, escape enculturation. Just as humans depend on injections of new genetic information for our survival and evolution**, so must culture learn to appreciate these injections of information from outside the system. Now, a new injection of information will leap communication to a new level of complexity. The injection has already been occurring. It is high speed internet reaching high speed devices. Devices are rapidly being deployed across the globe. This is a huge evolutionary leap in communication. It is a good thing if it is not a cancer.
Ok, so how do we make communication a functioning organ and not a cancer? Crowdsourcing must come to our new communication. The cognitive wisdom of billions must continue to move from inner thought to outer thought to inner thought. And it must happen universally. I do mean universally. If a thing is not giving consideration to the principles of physics, and the problem of entropy, it must fail. Moving energy to order is essential. Failure happens if a government fails to cooperate with a financial sector, industry, science and the military. Failure happens if the individual fails to cooperate with the masses, the tissues of society. Crowdsourcing must come to our new communication as our new cooperation. This is the foundation that will make it all work.
Get ready for crowdsourcing. Because advances in technology have brought us communication as the internet, and as devices that employ the internet, so must crowdsourcing follow suit. The people, and the layers of society, must be part of the conscious order. Crowdsourcing will bring quality to our connectedness and our communications. The specific qualities that our communications need are: realism, positivity, logic, sustainability, evolution, and order. Why?… Simply because these are what lead to working outcomes that will bring happiness.
After several years of production, here now is a website that employs realism, positivity, logic, sustainability, evolution, and order to meet the crowdsource needs of an evolving society. iAmSapien.com is being assessed by you as means to communicate wisdom, and to be happy.

The target audience… who are the people we will hit on to join the team on iAmSapien? Are they the sixty to seventy percent women we have found on social media, people who see meaning in statements of positive outlook, positive change. Are our target audience the thirty to forty percent men who have the courage to dream big, seeing a different picture of our global future?
Who are the activated people? Who are the ones to say what a grand tomorrow looks like? Some day the vast majority of us will want to play a part in the grand decisions to declare where we are going as a society. In the mean time, there are many of us willing to play our part. We will vote on quality content. We will give comment on what improvement looks like. We will spread the word on social media.
Who are the key people, the ones to initially lead us in the right direction? These are the people eager to do some work. When I personally was asked to find a quality role model for a new private school, I got the job simply because I was willing to do the work. I was possibly the least qualified in the group of 150, but I had the trust of the group that I would put in the effort. I studied nightly on the web, three to six hours at a time. I read around seven or eight books, watched videos, and listened to audio tapes describing education and the results that occur in our youth. After several months I sent a forty pound box of supporting materials to the central office along with an explanation why these materials were on track for a better education method. My pay: $0.00
Better stated, my pay was an improved sense of self, a gratitude that I had made a sincere effort to move my own community toward a brighter future. In the process, I had increased my knowledge of humanity. I knew myself better as well. I knew with greater clarity my choice of direction in life. Eventually, this website was born from my new found awareness.
The key people who will move iAS, and the world, to a bright tomorrow are the people willing to make the effort because the pay is so much greater than can be put into dollars and cents. The pay is to one’s soul. The pay is to one’s family. The pay is to the children now inheriting the planet, and in whatever condition we leave it to them. I know with all my being that this is important. I know it has been worth my time the last five years to put together a web platform for empowerment. It is worth every penny. Now you feel the same because now you are a key person who will do some simple things. You will apply positive comments and materials regarding what matters most to you. You will apply references to back up what you say. You will vote up the people and materials that lead to the same bright tomorrow that you envision. You key people are our target audience. You are educated or self-taught. You have access to a computer and the internet. You are eager to spend some of your valued time on iAmSapien because you are aware that this project, this mission, is unquestionably the most valuable part of your day. For you, for family, for community, and for the world.
In theory, if a platform’s operation is crowdsourced to become a useful crowdsource tool, then crowdsourcing is on its way to new heights. Say how to crowdsource on the Improve Matrix on iAS.
In theory, if one person takes their years of educational experience, and uses this to study what is current on Google and Wikipedia and Quora, and then presents a summary on iAS for people to vote on, then crowdsourcing has reached a new height.
In theory, if ten people form a team, and use their combined expertise, and their group creativity, to present a summary on iAS, then crowdsourcing will have reached a new height.
In theory, if individuals and teams from around the world compare input on ias, and then revise their input, then crowdsourcing has reached a new height.
In theory, if multiple sites repeat the above crowdsourcing, and then the top results from all are presented for voting and comment, then crowdsourcing will reach a new heights.
iAS is available to others as a franchise, to modify and apply their own best method of crowdsourcing. In theory, working together, we are empowered to do what makes life work.
We have all done it. We use a bank card or a check confident that the payment will be made, but then we find failure has occurred. There is the fact that people want an outcome. Then there is the fact of creating an outcome. Where does faith reside on this line between want and creation?
If true, as scientist believe, that time is an illusion, then we can rest assured that the outcome we designed did occur. If true, as some believe, that God empowered us with choice for an outcome, then we can rest assured that this outcome will come to pass. Either way, we may have faith that what seems to be our choice is the outcome we get. Alternatively, perhaps the outcome is out of our hands. The greatness of the universe will succeed in where it is going no matter how grand or how diminished the choices of humans. Our choice just does not count for anything in the great scheme of things. Still, today, I am happy or I am sad, and I am the one choosing relationships that bring this outcome. In all three cases, I can have faith that my choices had something to do with the outcome that I experience.
So, the premise is, if my payment method fails, then I can have faith that my choices had something to do with the outcome. Hoping for a different outcome, that is a different post. Currently, we have determined that people create their own experience. Further, let us say that faith in personal choice is the same as saying that my perceptions and my thoughts and my actions can be congruent enough, and powerful enough, to create desired outcomes. It is faith in one’s self.
So, where does faith reside on the line between want and creation? It resides in personal choice. iAS is a statement that not only is this true of individual choice, but also true of community. In relationship, we are all deciding. iAS is simply an opportunity to move toward social congruity in making our choices.
Just as water runs its course from cloud to drops to river to ocean, so does knowledge have a course.
- Knowing begins in the mind as distant imaginings. Clouds of data take shape overhead as one thing or another. Gradually various forms develop. We form ideas what family looks like, how government should function, and why we exist. As vague ideas, their application won’t make a quality difference. iAS is a place to study these ideas, develop them, and make a difference.
- Knowledge accumulates into drops that shower our cities. We don’t know for sure what knowledge will work until tested socially. In our conversations we drop our ideas on people. If accepted, this is permission to rain similar ideas. On iAS your best voted ideas are ones you share more of.
- Knowledge coalesces into flows. Drops of knowledge become rivers of knowledge as many people add their drops to the storm. Rivers of knowledge transport change to society. Fluidity is essential to social change. iAS coalesces drops into rivers with new courses into the future.
- Knowledge has destiny. If dispersion is entropy, then the coming together of knowledge is life. Somehow the many flows of knowledge must find a home in the future. On iAS the flows of knowledge come together in one place, joining for a great purpose. On iAS knowledge is directed to form something vast and sustained, a future full of potential.
To give life to knowledge and make it bloom:
• Make knowledge personal… On iAS you associate, improve, valuate, connect and share.
• Make knowledge relative… This is better than that. That belongs with this.
• Make knowledge important… On iAS knowledge is positive, for empowerment, for possibility.

Hey, let’s open source people! If a person’s inner wisdom is no secrete, then we all can benefit from everyone’s experience and learning.
What is open source? This website would not be possible except for open source code. Because thousands of people were willing to share their knowledge of coding, the potential for all of us went exponential.
Thousands of hours of work was shared for the collective benefit. These shared products were improved upon and then shared again. In this way the collective wisdom is crowdsourced. Where a team of experts could only begin to say what is needed, a global team gets the job wrapped up in no time.
As computer code is open sourced so that our computers and phones function from day to day, so can life be open sourced such that life will function with ease, with beauty, with sustainability. The evolution of technology is very rapid because of open sourced thinking
. It is time that the evolution of society caught up by making our assessment of life open sourced.
Our smartest university graduates create thousands of term papers, research papers and theses each year, papers that few of us get to read. Our philosophers present their best to a few friends, and then the wisdom dies. Those who spend a lifetime in study will write some books, and then the conversation will end. But there is a way that our best and brightest can open their learning to the world. The conversation can take on a life of its own.
For thousands of years our small societies were dependent on open sourced knowledge. Through conversation, the coming generation learned everything from their elders. Survival depended on it. Today we once again approach the point where the coming generation will need access to the knowledge of past generations. They will need the knowledge to recreate the future. The extent of our knowledge, and future options, are enormous. Yet, as with sharing code, each person need only do their small part.
We already have Google and Wikipedia and Quora sharing vast knowledge. So let’s just find a way to implement that knowledge. Even as the people writing code have their resources, the knowledge just doesn’t sit there. They don’t read it like a newspaper and then throw it away. Instead they assess what is there. They choose from the best and then modify it to make it better. They take their evolved creation and apply it to thousands of other code that have gone through the same process. Having found perfection, they share perfection back to the sources, and the process begins again.
iAmSapien.com depends on this process. So much knowledge is available. Now it is you who are going to choose the best, improve on it, apply it to an active knowledge base, and then share the perfection back to Google, Wikipedia, Quora and the world.
How is it that our complex society could return to the ancient sharing of wisdom so fundamental to our social evolution? The answer is to model after working systems, both technological and natural. The objective is not so much to know something as to do something. Success in doing is our wisdom. To get us there as a community, iAS allows everyone to share. To get us there with ease, iAS crowdsources both the knowledge and the action. To get us there empowered, we leverage your global connections with similar minds. To get us there and beyond, iAS lets you improve your input again and again.
The technology we use is the vastness of the web, and the sorting power of microcircuitry. We use artistic magic to present on an LCD screen as simple what is deeply complex.
The natural systems we model after are the workings of the brain and of society. The brain shows us that most of the vast incoming data must be dealt with subconsciously. The mundane is weeded out, and significant connections are made where it matters most. Then the important data is tagged with emotions to create a hierarchy. Finally, the conscious brain chooses from the tagged material what is to be applied today for a brighter tomorrow. This hierarchy of functions also happen on iAS as a product of matrices organization, your voting, and your application of the knowledge to today and tomorrow.
A sociological model is also in play. Naturally, people talk to each other intending to say something significant. Sometimes to laugh. Mostly society is dependent on how well we communicate needs and intentions so that roads get built, so that food gets served, and so our children are prepared for life. iAS is all about significant communication. The intention is life. The source of the wisdom that will make life great comes from our interactions and our support of others. Open sourcing of so many minds is a powerful means to create an evolved society.
